Iggy Azalea performed a jammed packed 50 minute set for a sold out crowd in Baltimore at Pier Six Pavilion last night on her The New Classic Tour, named after her debut album.
Iggy is a 24 year old hip hop artist from Australia. When she was 16, she left Australia to come to the US to pursue her dreams in hip hop and started in Miami. Now, her best known single “Fancy” featuring Charli XCX went on to reach number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, making Iggy the fourth solo female rapper ever to top the Hot 100 and also making her the female rapper with the longest-leading number one single on the Billboard Hot 100.
My only wish would be that Iggy Azalea’s set would’ve been at least an hour, if not more. But as not only a new artist but as a rapper featured on many popular songs, her 50 minute full set with just about everything she released currently. She rapped her parts from many popular songs she is featured in like “Problem” with Ariana Grande and “Black Widow” with Jesse J. But without Ariana Grande and Jesse J, their part was either not performed or Iggy relied on the crowd to sing it out. For “Fancy” the full song was performed with Charli XCX’s part being sung fully by the crowd and Iggy only rapping her parts. This is to be understood though, as Iggy is a rapper – and a really talented one at that.
We cannot wait to see what the future holds for Iggy Azalea (probably MANY awesome collaborations) and look forward to seeing her back in Baltimore soon!
